Vikings Demolish Chargers

2019 NFL Draft Hats from New Era

The Minnesota Vikings have not played well on the west coast as of late. Minnesota changed the tides on Sunday afternoon against the Los Angeles Chargers on the road. Los Angeles committed seven turnovers as the Vikings dominated the Chargers by a score of 39-10 on Sunday afternoon.

Kirk Cousins threw a 1-yard touchdown pass on the opening drive for Minnesota to Irv Smith Jr. (missed extra-point). Cousins completed 19-of-25 passes for 207 yards one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for 14 yards on three carries.

Smith Jr. also caught two passes for eight yards receiving and a touchdown.

With Los Angeles trailing 9-3 in the second-quarter, Philip Rivers threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Mike Williams. Rivers completed 28-of-39 passes for 307 yards one touchdown and three interceptions.

The Chargers should maybe consider benching Rivers in the final two games of the regular season. They should draft a quarterback in the first-round of the NFL Draft. Philip Rivers will be a free agent at the end of the season.

Mike Williams caught four passes for 71 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Keenan Allen was the leading receiver for the Los Angeles Chargers with nine receptions for 99 yards receiving.

Melvin Gordon II was the leading rusher for Los Angeles with 28 yards rushing on seven carries. He also caught five passes for 36 yards receiving.

Austin Ekeler rushed for 19 yards rushing on seven carries. He also caught five passes for 62 yards receiving.

Danielle Hunter strip sacked Philip Rivers and Ifeadi Odenigbo returned a fumble for a 56-yard touchdown for Minnesota with 53 seconds remaining in the second-quarter to go up 19-10.

With the Vikings up 25-10 in the fourth-quarter, the Vikings scored two more touchdowns and they were both by Matt Boone from eight yards out and two yards out.

Boone finished with 56 yards rushing on 13 carries and two touchdowns.

Dalvin Cook rushed for 27 yards on nine carries. He also caught three passes for 16 yards receiving. Cook left the game with an injury and he did not return.

Alexander Mattison did not play in this game as well for Minnesota.

Stefon Diggs was the leading receiver in this game for the Minnesota Vikings with four receptions for 76 yards receiving.

Kyle Rudolph caught three passes for 48 yards receiving for Minnesota.

Adam Thielen returned in his first game back from a hamstring injury for the Vikings. He caught three passes for 27 yards receiving.

All Minnesota has to do in its final two weeks is either win one game or the Los Angeles Rams (8-6) lose one game and the Minnesota Vikings will be in the postseason for the second consecutive season.

Minnesota (10-4) will host the Green Bay Packers (11-3) in a huge NFC North Showdown next Monday night.

The Los Angeles Chargers (5-9) have been officially eliminated from playoff contention and they will host the Oakland Raiders (6-8) next Sunday.
