The NFL Schedule Special: Who Cares??

The NFL schedule release is one that fills even the most casual NFL fans heart with glee. It is the sign of hope for your teams next season. You can check the list and start to figure out the wins and losses and what that means for your playoff hopes.

Then the analyst break down the teams schedules and give their thoughts. You can have someone like Adam Rank give a take on your team that goes like this:

No Title

No Description

That of course was a prediction that was as wrong as OJs April fools joke of saying, "I did it".

The 49ers this past season obviously flipped that record and took it to the Super Bowl. It's that type of content though that the NFL schedule creates.

Right now, in a world with no sports outside of the Korean Baseball Organization, the NFL is holding a schedule special to release the 2020 team schedules.

ESPN will air a three-hour NFL schedule release show tonight at 8 pm Eastern. It will highlight key matchups, schedule flexibility and, ultimately, hope.

My question is, who cares? Honestly, I miss sports, I don't miss it so much that I am going to watch a 3 hour special to see an analyst breakdown my teams schedule for 10 minutes. It seems a bit ridiculous. Of course, some people WILL watch the entire thing. I don't get why, but they will.

Give me the teams tweeting out their schedules and fans dissecting them on twitter. Give me quick blurbs from the analyst on what they think. Honestly, shorten this special to 1 hour and I probably watch the entire thing. 3 hours just seems sooooooo long. Even in a time of quarantine and being on my 7th season of the Great British Baking show, which is just lovely, it's not worth watching 3 hours of schedule and matchup breakdown. I think Alex on twitter sums it up pretty well by saying:

NFL Network plans to air a THREE HOUR schedule release special tomorrow night. They're taking three hours to reveal what can be conveyed in a few seconds.

Really though, the special is just too long. Give me Schefter dropping schedule bombs and I'd be happy as can be. Give me Schefter staring at his 7 phones for 3 hours and giving little quips on teams here and there....I'm out.

Instead, you can find me seeing if any of the bakers can pull off the Schichttorte Paul Hollywood asked them to make in an hour. Either way, Happy NFL Schedule release day, and as always for everyones teams...
