The Kansas City Chiefs were favorites to potentially win the AFC entering the 2021 season once again. Kansas City has looked anything but the best team in the NFL so far this season. They were pounced on Sunday night football against the Buffalo Bills by the final score of 38-20.
Buffalo appears to be the new favorite in the AFC thanks to quarterback Josh Allen, head coach Sean McDermott, and an elite defense. The Bills don’t appear to be the only team better than the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL today. This game was an AFC Championship Game rematch from last season.
Kansas City isn’t even the best team in their own AFC West Division. The Los Angeles Chargers (4-1) are the best team in the AFC West at the moment. Los Angeles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Kansas City Chiefs are currently in last place in the AFC West. The Denver Broncos and the Las Vegas Raiders (both teams are 3-2 so far this season) are currently ahead of them in the AFC West Standings.
It appears as if the league caught up to them. Justin Herbert is having a better season than Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has seven giveaways this season. The Kansas City Chiefs are a bad football team right now. They seem to be a cocky and arrogant bunch. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill has not been very good this season. Tight end Travis Kelce has been the most consistent receiver on this team. They lack a running game with Clyde Edwards-Helaire and the offensive line isn’t great.
They have one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Kansas City can’t stop the run or the pass. They are not going to make the Super Bowl let alone potentially the postseason without any defensive presence whatsoever. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo needs to shake things up or he will be fired sooner rather than later.
Head Coach Andy Reid needs to remind his football team that they need to take whatever the defense gives them instead of taking long shots on every single down. Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemmy needs to simplify his game plans here.
