ESPN not making friends in Eugene

Let's set the scene. Oregon leads Arizona 24-10 late in the second quarter, quarterback Anthony Brown connected with Kris Hutson on a tough throw and catch, then Hutson spun the ball, crossed his arms, and stared at the Arizona defender for a few seconds. The refs immediately threw a flag and head coach Mario Cristobal threw his headset and tore into Hutson for a straight 60 seconds while Hutson looked his coach in the eyes, and after the tirade, he said "yes sir."

That's when ESPN announcer, always waiting to pounce at the chance to mention the racial makeup of such an interaction, hits the audience with this ridiculous take after initially saying "this is a bit too much", "Moreover, the sight of a 51-year-old White man publicly berating a young Black man irritates a lot of us,” Rod Gilmore said. “Especially in light of all the racial inequity. It’s a bad look. You don’t have to flex your power and control to deliver the lesson. It did not make my friends’ Black parents happy.”

Uh, what? This Twitter user got it right..

Flock is Hot on Twitter: "Pretty racist of @RodGilmore to go after Mario Cristobal, a Latino head coach, for something that Nick Saban does every week. Especially during Hispanic Heritage Month / Twitter"

ESPN did this a few years ago with Brian Kelly, then again this year with Kelly, and now with Cristobal. It's like they were the kids always getting yelled at during practice so now they don't want coaches yelling ever again, and will even try and make it racial. Meanwhile, the player and coach have both come out and said they have high respect for each other, but don't try and tell the Woke Sports Network, at least Gilmore's alternate network colleagues understood how much this take from Gilmore was off the wall...

Doug Gottlieb on Twitter: "Kid has 5 catches all year, makes a nice grab, spins the ball after catch, costs Oregon. "This is a bit too much" is insane commentary. Credit the kid too, he looks MC in the eye and says "Yes sir" pic.twitter.com/KuJw4Bcoui / Twitter"

So what do the wokester coronobros do? They schedule Gilmore to the Oregon game again this week...what the hell?

TJ Brassil on Twitter: "Very disappointed that @espn would put Rod Gilmore on another Oregon game after the extremely insensitive comments he made about Mario Cristobal. Extremely unfortunate / Twitter"
