Has Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross lost his damn mind? Miami fired head coach Brian Flores on Monday morning and this was the shocker of the day so far. After starting 1-7 this year, they could have simply folded, but they finished 9-8. The Miami Dolphins swept the New England Patriots this season and Miami has won three consecutive games against New England.
However, the Dolphins did miss the playoffs, but Brian Flores had a 5-11 record in the first season and also a 10-6 record in his second season. He missed the playoffs all three seasons but to fire him was completely out of line. Flores is going to be picked up by another head coach.
One of the potential reasons he could have been fired is because of his displeasure with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Brian Flores did not want him in the draft in 2020. Owner Stephen Ross loves Tua and that is probably why he was fired. Flores is more of a Justin Herbert guy and wanted him.
There were also rumors that they may be going after Jim Harbaugh from the University of Michigan, but that appears not to be happening. Some way somehow, general manager Chris Grier survived this, and this is a complete and utter joke. Grier has been with the organization since 2000 and his expiration date with the organization is long overdue.
The next Miami Dolphins head coach is going to have to like and develop Tua Tagovalioa. Well, this is going to be tough because maybe not a lot of head coaches may like him. Brian Flores being fired was a complete and utter shock. I don’t understand this move at all.
Flores not having his quarterback cost him his job. That is the life of the NFL today. If you don’t have your quarterback, your head coaching career isn’t going to last very long in the NFL. Brian Flores is going to have his say big time on a quarterback assuming he gets hired for another head coaching job. If not, Brian Flores is always welcome back to join Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.
Brian Flores had talent in Miami with the Miami Dolphins and he will look to pursue his next career and whoever is the next head coach of this football team, this will be an attractive destination, but they will deal with impatience by the owner Stephen Ross.
