Will Ryan Finley be the Cincinnati Bengals Future Starting Quarterback?

Glenn Kaplan

Andy Dalton will be the starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals heading into the 2019 season. Cincinnati has not made it to the playoffs since 2015. Dalton has been the starting quarterback for the Bengals since the 2011 season.

With Zac Taylor being the new head coach of this football team, many people wonder whether or not how much longer Andy Dalton will be the starting quarterback for this football team. He is 31 years and will be a free agent after next season.

Dalton has not won a playoff game in his NFL career. In his career, he has completed 62 percent of his passes for 28,100 yards 188 touchdowns and 104 interceptions. Andy Dalton has also rushed for 1,148 yards on 362 carries and 18 touchdowns in his career up to this point.

It is going to be interesting to see if Jeff Driskel or Ryan Finley will be the backup quarterback this season. It appears as if Finley is going to be the backup. He was a fourth-round pick in the NFL Draft. Ryan Finley played his college ball at North Carolina State.

During his senior year, he completed 67.4 percent of his passes for 3,928 yards 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Finley rushed for 21 yards on 42 carries and a score.

He is 24 years old and Ryan Finley has developed very nicely during the preseason for Cincinnati. In two games played, he has completed 33-of-44 passes for 259 yards three touchdowns and one interception.

That's a very good stat line. Finley may not see as much time in the third game of the preseason when they take on the New York Giants at home this upcoming Thursday night.

Ryan Finley will probably see a lot of time when the Cincinnati Bengals played the Indianapolis Colts at home on Thursday August 29.

He has also shown some leadership skills. Finley will also be more of a reliable backup than Jeff Driskel will. Ryan Finley could also learn Taylor's system for the next year or so. Zac Taylor was the quarterbacks coach with the Los Angeles Rams last season.

He has probably learned a lot of things from the Sean McVay and Jared Goff relationship. I am sure Taylor and Andy Dalton could work out for the next year or two, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Ryan Finley soon as the starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals.
