US Woman Tie in first match of 2019 Shebelieves Cup

The frantic finish between Japan and the United States women’s soccer team in the first game of group stage in the 2019 Shebelieves Cup still ended in a 2-2 stalemate as Carli Lloyd’s goal attempt as time expired was stopped by the Japan goalie.

 The US women will now play first place England on March 2nd at 4:30 p.m. EST.

The US led in shots 13-5 and held possession 56% of the time. They got a goal by Megan Rapinoe in the 23rd minute to take a 1-0 lead. Japan tied it up in the 67th minute but then Alex Morgan scored in the 76th minute to give United States a 2-1 lead. Unfortunately Japan scored an extra time goal at the 91st minute to tie the game up at 2.

England sits in first after beating Brazil 2-1; Japan and the United States are tied at 2nd and Brazil is in fourth place in the group standings.
