Steelers End Browns Playoffs Hopes

The Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers had a ton of headlines heading into the game on Sunday afternoon at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In the last match up between these two teams, Myles Garrett took Mason Rudolph's helmet and swung it at him. Garrett obviously did not play in this game for Cleveland because he was suspended for the remainder of the season.

Rudolph would not get the start in this game. Devlin Hodges got the start in this one. He completed 14-of-21 passes for 212 yards one touchdown and one interception, along with two rushing yards on five carries in a 20-13 win for Pittsburgh over the Browns.

The Steelers officially sealed the game with 1:12 remaining in regulation when Joe Haden picked off Baker Mayfield.

Pittsburgh trailed 10-0 early in this game and they couldn't get anything going.

Cleveland scored on a 15-yard touchdown pass by Baker Mayfield to Kareem Hunt in the second-quarter and that is what made it 10-0.

Mayfield completed 18-of-32 passes for 196 yards one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for two yards on one carry.

Hunt caught five passes for 19 yards receiving and a touchdown. He also rushed for 46 yards on seven carries.

Nick Chubb was the leading rusher in this game for the Cleveland Browns with 58 yards rushing on 16 carries. He also caught one pass for 21 yards receiving.

Jarvis Landry was the leading receiver in this game for Cleveland with six receptions for 76 yards receiving.

Odell Beckham Jr. was held in check in this game with three receptions for 29 yards receiving.

Mayfield hurt his hand in the second-quarter on Bud Dupree's helmet.

Garrett Gilbert had to come in for a couple of plays. He went 0-for-2.

With Pittsburgh trailing 10-3 in the second-quarter, Devlin Hodges threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to James Washington. Washington caught four passes for 111 yards receiving and a touchdown.

With the game tied at 10 in the third-quarter, the Pittsburgh Steelers took the lead on the first drive on a Benny Snell Jr. 1-yard touchdown run.

Snell Jr. rushed for 63 yards on 16 carries and a score. He also caught one pass for four yards receiving.

Jaylen Samuels also had a nice game in the backfield again for Pittsburgh. He rushed for 32 yards on seven carries. Samuels also caught two passes for 22 yards receiving.

Dionate Johnson was concussed during the last Cleveland Browns match up. He caught one pass for 14 yards receiving. Johnson also rushed for 17 yards on one carry.

Tevin Jones caught one pass for 28 yards receiving.

Vance McDonald caught three passes for 21 yards receiving.

Chris Boswell hit a 29-yard field goal for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth-quarter.

Austin Seibert made a 31-yard field in the first-quarter and a 34-yard field goal in the fourth-quarter for the Cleveland Browns.

This loss for Cleveland will most likely dash their postseason hopes. The Browns will need to win out and get a lot of help. Cleveland will most likely make a coaching change in the offseason.

They were hyped to go to the Super Bowl this season and it is all but gone. The Cleveland Browns had the talent to damage, but discipline cost them big time.

Cleveland was a team that people picked not only to win the AFC North and make the playoffs, but also make it and potentially win the Super Bowl this season.

The Steelers are currently in the sixth spot in the AFC. It is going to come down to them, the Tennessee Titans (7-5), and the Houston Texans (7-4) for potentially the sixth seed in the AFC.

The Oakland Raiders (6-6) and the Indianapolis Colts (6-6) are most likely in trouble to make it to the playoffs this season.

The Browns (5-7) will host the Cincinnati Bengals (1-11) next Sunday.

Pittsburgh (7-5) will be on the road against the Arizona Cardinals (3-8-1) next Sunday.
