The San Francisco 49ers lost to the Indianapolis Colts 30-18 on Sunday night football in extremely rainy and windy conditions in San Francisco, California. San Francisco needs to bench Jimmy Garoppolo whenever Trey Lance gets healthy again.
Lance was out due to injury last night, but Garoppolo was the starter. He completed 16-of-27 passes for 181 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. I know and understand that the weather was an issue, but Jimmy Garoppolo made some extremely poor decisions with the football.
The icing on the cake for it for me was him throwing two interceptions in the fourth quarter. Carson Wentz of the Indianapolis Colts was much better than Jimmy Garoppolo was.
Garoppolo can’t run. Trey Lance can provide that RPO option for San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. Lance needs reps with the first team. Trey Lance has the talent around him to succeed. They have a solid offensive line, a decent running game, and very good wide receivers/tight ends.
San Francisco had high expectations entering this season and we are halfway through the regular season. Time is going to be running out on them and they will potentially miss the playoffs for the fourth time in the five seasons.
This is not what this franchise had envisioned heading into the 2021 NFL Regular Season. The Arizona Cardinals (7-0) and the Los Angeles Rams (6-1) are miles ahead of the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West Standings.
The Jimmy Garoppolo era should be over in San Francisco. That is why general manager John Lynch traded up in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft to get Trey Lance out of North Dakota State.
The Indianapolis Colts (3-4) next game will be at home against the Tennessee Titans (5-2) next Sunday.
The San Francisco 49ers (2-4) next game will be on the road against the Chicago Bears (3-4) next Sunday.
