“The ball is down and we’re underway.”
Alberta’s RMLL Senior B Lacrosse League started up this weekend with a battle between two of the top teams in the south. The Rockyview Knights, thanks to a hat trick from Patrick Omeara topped the Calgary Mounties 8-6.
Special teams was the difference maker in this one. 5v5 the Mounties outscored their opponent 5-2, but allowed three goals while short handed and another three while on the powerplay.
Jason Crook and Tyler Melnyk returned for another season to do the heavy lifting for the Mounties, the team that is already loaded with offensive firepower, could be a serious contender if they’re able to get a Dane Dobbie back in the lineup.
As for the Knights they bolstered their roster between the pipes. After allowing the fourth most goals in the league last season, they picked up former Colorado Mammoth, Vancouver Warrior and NE Black Wolves netminder Tye Belanger.
This upcoming weekend, 12oz Sports Radio and TV will have the broadcast Saturday night between the Edmonton Warriors and St. Albert Miners.
