With fans and players allowed to attend this years NFL Draft in Cleveland, it should be as exciting a draft as we’ve had in years. There’s five quarterbacks that are expected to go in the first round, creating plenty of intrigue and trade possibilities going in.
1. JAX-Trevor Lawrence QB
Todd McShay has been quoted as saying Lawrence is the best QB prospect since Andrew Luck and it’s hard to argue with that statement, given his body of work.
2. NYJ-Zach Wilson QB
The Jets have done their homework on Wilson and their trade of Sam Darnold to the Panthers cements their intent to pick Wilson. Will he turn the tides in the Big Apple or will he be Darnold 2.0? Sorry but my $ is on the 2nd option.
3. SF-Mac Jones QB
The 49ers made a big trade, moving up to the three spot where they will surely pick a QB. Reports have it narrowed down to Mac Jones and Trey Lance with Shanahan preferring Jones. Though I don’t believe Jones is better than Lance or Fields, you have to give the QB Guru his QB.
4. DAL from ATL-Kyle Pitts TE
I’m doing it, projecting a trade, and with Dallas nearby, you know Jerry Jones would make a deal to acquire this kind of talent. Pitts would immediately have the opportunity to start and produce with a loaded WR Corp in Dallas.
5. CIN-Penei Sewell OL
The Bengals have a talented young QB in Joe Burrow that needs to be protected at all costs! Last year he was thrown to wolves and suffered the consequences. You have to invest in your QB and his safety and landing Sewell would be a step in the right direction.
6. MIA-Ja’maar Chase WR
The Dolphins have a solid defense and Tua needs another weapon. The only question here is best WR available in Chase or take Tua’s teammate from Bama in Devonta Smith?
7. DET-Devonta Smith WR
Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones both left in free agency leaving a big hole in the WR room. There’s concerns about his size but the Heisman Trophy has all the tools necessary to produce in the NFL. Goff gets a weapon in his new home.
8. WAS from CAR-Trey Lance QB
The WFT has a solid defense and good team overall but needs a QB to build around with Ryan Fitzpatrick being a temporary fix. They made the playoffs with atrocious QB last season leaving plenty of hope for the future with a talented young QB in Lance.
9. DEN-Justin Fields QB
The Broncos may have seen enough from Drew Lock and if Justin Fields is sitting there at the ninth pick it might be to sweet of a deal to pass up. While he might not be the complete QB that some hope for, he has shown tons of talent and leadership. Give him a year to get up to speed with the NFL game and improve, and he could be the steal of the 1st Round QB’s.
10. ATL from DAL- Patrick Surtain CB
The Falcons defense played well at times but was horrible at others. With Evans, Godwin, DJ Moore, Robby Anderson, and Michael Thomas all playing in that division it may be a good idea to get some help at CB.
BONUS: Fingers crossed the Raiders can land Micah Parsons and get their LB to change that defense around!
We’ll see what happens Thursday night with plenty of surprise LIKELY.
