Justin Faulk Traded to the St. Louis Blues

2019 NFL Draft Hats from New Era
Defenseman Justin Faulk was traded from the Carolina Hurricanes to the St. Louis Blues and so was a 2020 fifth-round pick for defenseman Joel Edmundson, Dominik Bokk, and a 2021 seventh-round pick.

Faulk also signed a 7-year contract extension with St. Louis worth $6.5 million per season. The Blues just added more depth to the blue line after winning the Stanley Cup last season for the first time in franchise history.

Robert Bortuzzo, Jay Bouwmeester, Vince Dunn, Colton Parayko, Alex Pietrangelo, and Carl Gunnarson will be some of the key defenseman on this roster now. St. Louis might have the best blue line in the NHL and that is a part of their identity under Head Coach Craig Beurbe.

They want there defenseman to play physical on defense and also be effective on offense. Faulk is 27 years old. In 82 games played last season, he scored 11 goals and recorded 24 assists. His plus/minus was 9.

In 15 postseason games, Justin Faulk scored one goal and recorded seven assists. His plus/minus was 4.

Edmundson is 26 years old. In 64 games played last season, he scored two goals and recorded nine assists. His plus/minus was 8.

In 22 postseason games last season, Joel Edmundson scored one goal and recorded six assists. His plus/minus was -2.

Bokk is 19 years old and he was a first-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft by the St. Louis Blues. In four games played last season with the Rogle BK Angelholm in the SweHL, he recorded two assists. His plus/minus was 2.

This was a good trade for both teams. St. Louis and Carolina both have high expectations heading into the 2019-2020 season and it will be interesting to see how they respond to it. These two teams will play each on Tuesday February 4, 2020 in St. Louis and on Thursday March 19, 2020 in Carolina.
