The annual IMSA race, otherwise known as the Acura Sports Car Challenge, in Lexington, Ohio was my first in-person race experience...and boy was I pleased! We purchased a Sunday-only pass, in which three races took place. The prototype challenge (think concept cars), the MX-5 Cup (always a banger), and of course the main event with IMSA, including Daytona Prototypes, LeMans Prototypes, and GTD cars.
First came the prototypes, and boy were they fast!!
Next came the MX-5 Cup, a league of strictly MX-5 beauties that when they come down the straight away, just think of a million buzzing bees!
Unfortunately, the camera wasn't juiced up when a major crash happened right in front of us (common in MX-5 Cup), but here is another clip of the buzzing bees before we recap the main event...
Now on to the main event, and oh what a spectacle it is! Three classes, all different speeds, mixed in together makes for oftentimes heavy traffic and classic racing. Like this clip here, courtesy of IMSA Twitter:

I highly recommend attending an IMSA race if you ever get the chance, and you definitely should visit the Mid-Ohio Race Complex. Camping areas along the outside of the track make for long-lasting memories, and who wouldn't want to be enjoying their morning coffee and eggs by the fire while a Lamborghini goes screaming by?
Here are some of the other videos I shot.
