Canada slides past Czech Rep to semis

It wasn’t pretty, but that doesn’t matter.

Devon Levi posted a 29-save shutout in Canada’s 3-0 quarterfinal win over the Czech Republic.

Dylan Cozens had a goal and an assist, while Bowen Byram and Connor McMichael found the back of the net as well for the red and white.

Canada started out strong, but the forwards often looked flustered against a stingy Czech defensive strategy. Should Canadian fans be worried? I don’t think there’s a big need to press the panic button, although Russia is much more of a test in a meaningful game.

On the other side of things, Finland beat Sweden 3-2 and USA defeated Slovakia 5-2 to advance to the other semifinal.

Canada vs Russia gets underway at 4pm on Monday. USA vs Finland is at 7:30pm.
