Antonio Brown Fined; Will Be Suspended
The Antonio Brown drama continues to get spicier by the second in Oakland. He has been making headlines for the wrong reasons. According league sources that told ESPN, Antonio Brown and General Manager Mike Mayock got into it Wednesday and the team is now planning to suspend its star wide receiver.
If Brown's guaranteed money of $30.125 is voided, he will no longer be with the Oakland Raiders. It will be interesting to see whether or not Oakland actually attempts to make this move. Mayock and Jon Gruden are trying to establish a positive culture with the Raiders and Brown is creating the circus single handedly.
Antonio Brown was also fined $54k for missing practices earlier in the week. He shared his displeasure of being fined on social media and it was one of the reasons why this suspension occurred.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and their fan base are smiling somewhere right now. Pittsburgh is ecstatic that they don't have him in the locker room anymore. The Steelers are happy with Juju Smith-Schuster as the number one wide receiver.
As for Antonio Brown, who would want to sign him if he is let go by the Oakland Raiders. Would the New England Patriots sign him? Would the Green Bay Packers take him? New England already has to deal with Josh Gordon. Green Bay wants to set a positive culture with Matt LaFleur as the new head coach.
Brown is 31 years old. What if he retired from the game? Antonio Brown without question would be in the Hall of Fame. He has caught 837 passes for 11,207 yards receiving and 74 touchdowns.
Last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brown caught 104 passes for 1,279 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns.
The Oakland Raiders will begin the season at home on Monday night against the Denver Broncos. Tyrell Williams, Hunter Renfrow, J.J. Nelson, Ryan Grant, and Dwayne Harris are the other current wide receivers on the roster.
Renfrow has the potential to breakout as a rookie. He played college football at Clemson University. Nelson could also revive his career after playing with the Arizona Cardinals for the past couple of seasons.
Will see what happens within the next week or so and Antonio Brown could also be jeopardizing his career. Other wide receivers or players across the NFL have behaved this way like Brown has recently.
